The executive that is chief of baseball says the league would likely be operational to exploring las vegas should a team such as the Oakland Athletics or Tampa Bay Rays need to relocate. Both franchises are playing in outdated stadiums, but their host cities are refusing to produce public funding to help construct brand new venues.
‘ Whenever we were looking at relocation, vegas could be regarding the list,’ Manfred revealed up to a band of recreations journalists during a meeting that is annual MLB headquarters. TheChicago Tribunefirst reported his comments.
The Big Four sports companies in the US, the NFL, MLB, NBA, and NHL, had long opposed Las Vegas for sanctioned games due to the city’s widespread activities betting at casinos. That’s changed in the past few years, as professional hockey is coming to Nevada in 2018 utilizing the Las Vegas Golden Knights expansion team, and the Las Vegas Raiders will bring the NFL to the Mojave Desert in 2020.
